Sometimes it is a gentle voice -- and sometimes it screams for our attention,
but if we listen, truly listen, we will hear the voice of God in our hearts,
or His holy angels speaking to our minds, warning us, comforting us, instructing
us. Have you experienced the voice of an angel warning you of impending danger?
Connie Bowen, artist and writer, did. She tells her story here.
By Connie Bowen
It happened when my son Matthew was a few months old. I had decided to carry him into the living room to be close to me while I worked. There was a big, soft blanket on the floor, and I began to gently lower him onto it, holding his head in my hand. But just as I was about to put him down, with his head but a few inches above the blanket, a voice in my mind clearly said, Stop! Check the blanket!
I would have ignored the voice, as I was sure everything was all right, but it sounded so clear and so urgent that it made me stop. As I moved one of the folds of the blanket, there it was one of the biggest, most menacing-looking spiders I have ever seen, and exactly in the spot that I was about to place my sons head!
I shuddered as I realized that the spider was almost as big as one of Matthews tiny hands. I said a silent, Thank you, God, while I hurriedly put the spider outside where he belonged.
With the spider safely outside, I laid Matthew down on the soft, blue blanket,
again giving thanks for the voice that had made me stop. I felt renewed and
reassured as if he and I were in a cocoon of protection, a golden bubble of
love held dear in an angel's arms.
